I’m quite convinced that in a former life I was a magpie, the moment I see anything shiny I have to possess it. That’s pretty much how it went the moment I laid my eyes upon this beautiful combination lock collar. Everything about it appealed to me. And, since I’m a huge fan of stainless steel, especially bondage equipment, I just had to have it.
Over the past few months I’ve acquired quite a few of the stainless steel bondage equipment from MEO, and I have to say it’s bloody amazing. I really love it. I now have an endless (not quite, but it’s close. Kinda) supply of their handcuffs and this collar goes with them beautifully. If you’d like to see the handcuffs, you can do so here, here, and here – all the cuffs!
But, now on to the collar! Initially when I ordered the collar I expected it to run on the smaller side, and since I have a large neck to hold up my incredibly big head (Something my OH would say) I ordered the large. And the large one is rather large. It’s not as small as I was expecting and honestly, the medium one would have probably been more than enough.
The combination lock collar is available in three sizes.
Size S = 130 mm = 5.2 inch inner diameter
Size M = 150 mm = 5.9 inch inner diameter
Size L = 170 mm = 6.7 inch inner diameter
I should have probably paid much more attention to the sizes than I did, as the large one is rather big on me. However, it’s not as much of an issue. I don’t like a snug fit around my neck, I like some room for it to move around. I’m not able to wear short necklaces or even tops that have high neck lines as they always make me feel like I can’t breathe, so for that reason I air on the side of caution. And, as it stands I actually really like the sizing of the collar even if it is bigger
I adore this collar, for me it’s almost perfect! I’ve mentioned I love steel, the cold hard unforgiving nature of it is just divine. One of the things that I really like about the combination lock collar is the ‘key’ I know, it’s not an actual key, but I can’t help but love the imagery of it.
As the name suggests the collar doesn’t lock and unlock with a key, it in fact uses a combination to unlock it. So, this is where I have a bit of a love/hate issue with the combination – I hate that you can’t change the combination, the combination it comes with (you’ll find it on a little red tag attached to the collar) is the combination that you’re stuck with for the rest of your collar wearing days. Well, this collar at least.
The combination consists of four numbers, on each column of numbers the number 1 is raised, this makes it easier to know which number if which and if needed you’re able to take the collar off yourself. That’s based on the assumption that you know the combination, this can be a really good thing, especially for safety concerns.
The collar is incredibly well made, and durable. It has a weight of ¾ of a lb and the width is 1.2cm. Considering the weight and size it’s seriously comfortable to wear, and depending on the kind of person you are you could always wear this out and about as a fashion accessory.
I really like the collar, I find the hinge on it quite sturdy – it’s easy to put on and remove and as I’ve mentioned it’s surprisingly comfortable to wear. If you’re looking for a new collar that can be worn for long periods of time, is durable and just looks amazing, then this could be it. It is rather expensive though, at a price of £75.65 I feel it could be out of a lot of peoples budgets.
