“There is a decadence in pain. There is a raw sharp edge to pleasure that comes in conjunction with it, for Doms and Subs alike.” – Alison Tyler – Dark Secret Love
I received this book one Friday morning. I had the day free so I decided to sit down and give it a go, and that is where my day ended. I did pretty much nothing else for the rest of the day. I practically inhaled this book in one sitting, by dinner time that evening I was done, and already starting the next book in the trilogy.
This book is amazing, it truly is; I loved everything about it. The way the story seems to be fictional, yet every so often Sam would talk directly to the reader – part fiction, part reality – the two perfectly blended to create a fantastic reading experience.
I found myself not wanting to pick this book back up after I’d managed to put it down. Let me explain that, certain things I was supposed to do throughout the day; make dinner for my child coming home from school, vacuum the floor – things like that, house bitch and mother duties and I had no choice other than to do them. So when I eventually put it down, I didn’t want to pick it back up simply because I knew that, once I’d picked it back up again, I’d be sucked in to Sam’s world and continue to say ‘Just one more chapter’ and not a damn thing would get done until I had finished.
I was so sucked in to this. I leapt in to Samantha’s world. What I really loved about this book is the raw passion, it shows you the up’s of the BDSM world, enticing you. But not only does it show you what it can be like when things are going great, it also shows you the lows of the world in extreme precise detail that not a lot of books get in to – I mean it can’t always be bending over whilst a hot guy or sexy woman spanks you and then fucks you to Orgasmic Bliss.
Sam goes through different chapters in her life, trying to find the perfect partner to fit HER needs, whilst also being ashamed of what her needs are. I think that’s something a lot of us can actually relate to: trying to find our place in the world, just like she was trying to find hers. Every so often I’d find myself saying ‘NO’ out loud (thankfully I was home whilst reading this) every time a male character would leave. It was tragic, yet I was overjoyed when other things happened.
I leapt in to this book so easily. From the very beginning I was hooked. I didn’t want to let it go, I was devastated that it actually ended, yet gleeful that I had the next edition in the series waiting for me on my book shelf. With so many un-answered questions that I needed the answers to, and what better time to start than right now?
I managed to read this book in less than 12 hours, whilst fitting in my normal day to day house bitch duties. If you’re new to bondage, or even seasoned in it, it’s a page turner that you just won’t want to put down. READ IT.
Disclaimer – Don’t blame me if your life suddenly comes to a halt whilst reading, you were warned.
