Doc Johnson surprised us all a few months ago with their release of the Dual Density line. By “us all”, I do mean me and quite a few more people on Twitter. I received emails from readers wanting to know if this was legit, if this was actually silicone and dual density silicone at that. Well, I contacted Doc Johnson and asked them if they would send me some of their new line to test out, and I now have an answer for those people who have emailed me in the past in regards to the dual density platinum range.
The range itself is rather large and has quite the selection of dildos and masturbatory sleeves. They’re all made from silicone – I received three dildos and a sleeve – the sleeve will be being reviewed separately, however, this review will contain all three of the dildos.
I selected three of the non- realistic dildos; I much preferred the colours and the shapes. I have to admit that, although I had the sizes in front of me, I was more than a little taken back at the size of the Tru Feel. I expected it to be much larger than it is, which was a little upsetting as it was the one that I was most looking forward to trying.
The three dildos that I selected are:
When I first requested these dildos, I obviously didn’t pay much attention to the sizing and instead used the pictures as reference. I expected the Tru Feel to be the largest of the three. I loved the look of it, the colour, and also the criss-crossed textured shaft. I was so excited to receive it, however, when it arrived, it was a lot smaller than I anticipated. In fact, it’s the smallest of the three dildos. The tip of the dildo has a girth of 4.3 inches at its widest point, 4 inches around the neck of the shaft, and 4.9 around the knot at the base of the shaft, the insertable length is 6 inches. Though this is the dildo that I was most excited for, it turned out that this was the one I liked the least. I found that it was just too small, both in girth and length; the texture wasn’t enough to save it as, honestly, I just couldn’t feel it. I would absolutely love this if it came in a larger size.
The Tru Curve dildo is pretty glorious, it has an internal length of 6 Inches, a girth of 5.5 around the tip (at its largest point), and 4.9 inches around the shaft. I loved the dramatic curve in the tip of this dildo with the straight shaft. For me, it was perfect for G-Spot stimulation.
Of the three, the Tru Touch is the largest (girth wise it’s the same as the Curve, it just feels a lot larger) one and, admittedly, is also my favourite of the three, too. I’ve found that, although I’m a fan of curved shafts for G-spot stimulation, straight shafts really work for me as I’m a huge fan of A spot stimulation.
The Tru Touch dildo has various different colours. The one I selected is pale pink. It has an insertable length of 7.3 inches with a circumference of 5.5 inches around the head and 5 inches around the shaft. I love this dildo, the silicone is beautifully smooth. It’s dual density silicone, meaning it’s soft and squishy on the outside and has a firm silicone core, giving it a much more realistic feeling. I’m a massive fan of dual density. After trying my first dual density dildo, the Tantus Cush, I’ve been enamoured. The problem for most with the Cush is pricing – Doc Johnson have pretty much eliminated that problem with a more affordable option.
The Touch impressed me, it had everything I needed in a dildo. The tapered tip makes insertion easier, though a lot of lube is still needed. Lube is provided with the dildo, though, honestly, I haven’t tried that – since using Squilid and having no reactions to it, I’ve never looked back. The head of the dildo is slightly larger than the shaft, which only makes it feel better. The slight ‘pop’ that happens while thrusting as the slight size difference comes into play, feels amazing.
One of the things I love about dual density dildos is when my vagina muscles tighten around the softer outer layer, as the inner core seems to push back. Which for me is an extremely satisfying experience.
I was planning on dissecting one of these, as I have been asked if they’re silicone throughout. However, the lovely DangerousLilly has already performed that ‘operation’ and has confirmed that they are silicone through and though. Since the Tru Feel is my least favourite of the three, these would have been the ones to get the chop but, thanks to Lilly, I felt no need in cutting off more balls. A dildo has been saved! You can find Lilly’s findings here.
All in all, I’m incredibly impressed with the Doc Johnson range. The prices go from around $24.99 USD to $59.99 USD. So, yes, it’s not incredibly cheap but, for dual density silicone, these, in my opinion, are incredibly affordable. They’re incredibly well made and come in an array of shapes, sizes and colours.
I’ll admit, I was pretty sceptical when this range launched, but consider me a convert that’s willing to recommend these toys. Now, tragically, I’ve searched high and low for these in the UK and, try as I might, I can’t bloody find them. The moment I do find them, I will update this page with a stockist. But, the awesome SheVibe do stock a rather large selection of this range and they do ship out to the UK also.
