I was recently sent the Fifty Shades of Grey (FSOG) under the bed restraint system to give it a trial run prior to it being officially released. If you’ve ever purchased anything from the FSOG range, you’ll have seen the packaging before. I’m actually a quite the fan of the packaging of this brand, I just love the black high gloss and silver. I think the packaging on this range is a lot classier than packaging on other items.
Inside you’ll find a pair of under the bed restraints, a blindfold and a door hanger. The blindfold and the door hanger are free items that come with the restraints; it’s a nice touch but, honestly, neither of these will ever see the light of day again (after I’ve taken pictures for you all to see of course). The blindfold isn’t of great quality: it’s quite cheaply made and lets in a fair bit of light. I have better blindfolds that I’d much prefer to use. The door hanger is just a piece of flimsy cardboard, which wouldn’t get any use within my household.
As I said, there’s a pair of restraints inside this box – which I love. I love that the restraints come in two parts; it makes this system so easy to ‘install.’ It also makes this system not height restrictive since it can be moved up or down the bed, dependent on where it needs to be in order to be comfortable. I mentioned that they’re easy to install, and they really are – I had this set unboxed and on my bed within 10 minutes. It would have been a lot sooner than that, but I had to measure the cuffs to make sure that the wrist cuffs were at the top of the bed and the ankle cuffs at the bottom. I also had to adjust the straps to ensure it fit my king-size bed. But to put this on the bed, all you need to do is adjust the straps, pull up a corner of the mattress, put the restraints under and just pull them through to the other corner.
A minor annoyance of this is that the cuffs aren’t labelled, so I had to measure all of them. I found that there’s a slight difference in length between them, and I do mean slight – there is a 5mm difference, so it’s neither here or there. I did, however, just put those ones at the base of the bed. The cuffs measure 10.6 inches in length (extendable to 14.6inches) with a width of 1.6inches, and they’re fastened by Velcro. At first I thought that the Velcro may be an issue, that when you struggle and are pulling on them, they’d come loose. However, so far, this hasn’t been an issue.
The cuffs are also faux fur lined, which makes them extremely comfortable to wear; especially for longer periods of time.
The cuffs are connected to bungee straps. These are then connected to the main strap that goes under the mattress. I imagine this should fit most size beds; it fits on my king size bed with quite a lot of strap left over that could be extended. The bungee straps are a nice touch, making it so that you are able to move around slightly – that way you don’t get uncomfortable – and if a position requires me to have my knees up, I’m still able to do this whilst being restrained. I also think it’s a great addition for some people who want to be restrained yet don’t like the idea of not being able to move at all. The bungee straps eliminate the need for that concern, making it a much more pleasurable experience for everyone.
So far, everything has been quite positive. However, I do have one problem with this bed spreader, and it’s that it doesn’t have O rings. You can’t remove these cuffs (unless you cut them off and add a O Ring – but I’m not so sure how secure that would be), so it means that you can’t use lockable cuffs with it if you wished to do so; like you can with the Bondage Boutique under the bed restraints.
All in all, I really like this bed spreader. It’s easy to install, comfortable to be worn and you can easily hide it under the mattress (or if you have a valance bed sheet, just leave it hanging down as a cover). It’s good quality item and it makes restraining your partner that much easier, especially for people who don’t have four poster beds, or headboards and foot boards with locations to add cuffs. I just really wish I were able to add my own cuffs to it as I much prefer lockable cuffs over Velcro.
You can purchase the Bondage Boutique under the bed restraints also from SextoysUK, at a price of £34.99 (at the time of writing this). So I guess it’s a choice between being able to add your own lockable cuffs as you can with the BB ones, or having the bungee strap that’s available on the FSOG ones.
