I’m incredibly enthusiastic about restraints and, over the years, I’ve amassed quite a collection of them. All different kinds: rope, shackles, leather cuffs, metal cuffs and more. Out of them all, metal cuffs are still my favourite kind of restraint. There’s something about them that I find incredibly sexy. The problem that I’ve had with metal cuffs is that they break, quite easily. I’m a strong girl and when pulling and thrashing about it’s not difficult to break the hinges of a pair of cuffs. They just don’t seem to be very durable at all. It’s something that has bothered me over the years, I shouldn’t have to ask the question, “But will I break these?” in my head every time I order a pair of cuffs.
Well, that is all about to change, as I recently received a pair of the strongest handcuffs I’ve ever come across.
I love the MEO website. I’ve reviewed quite a number of items from MEO over the past few months and their bondage section is truly amazing. I sit there salivating at most of the stuff. They’re simply divine and, from the items that I’ve reviewed and those I have in my possession but am yet to review, they’re incredibly well made. And these cuffs are no different.
The first thing I noticed when I received the Heavy Handcuffs were how heavy they were. I know, I know – the clue is in the name, right? I just didn’t expect them to be quite this heavy. Boasting a total weight of 2lbs 3.2oz and with each cuff weighing 1lb 1.6oz, they’re not exactly on the light side of things. I’ve had some handcuffs that feel like paper weights in comparison to these. The weight for me though is an additional bonus when in use, as when I’m restrained I not only feel restrained, but also weighed down; this further enhances my play time.
As with most of the packaging I’ve received with MEO items, the wrapping is pretty straightforward; all it consists of is a clear bag. Enclosed in the bag is your handcuffs and two keys. As standard with most handcuffs, each key will open both of the cuffs, meaning you have a spare available if you lose the other. But I would still keep them in a safe place because, with how strong these cuffs are, I really wouldn’t want to lost one. I’d expect that if you didn’t have the necessary tools at home to cut yourself out of these, you could end up calling the fire department to help you. Especially considering these cuffs don’t have a safety-release button.
Another problem I’ve faced using handcuffs, in general, is that the cuff can occasionally get tighter when I’m struggling. This can sometimes be a bit of a pain, both literally and metaphorically. It can also be a mood killer when your partner needs to un-cuff you and then re-cuff you again. That problem is eliminated with these cuffs, as on the side of them there’s a ‘stop’ button. When this is pressed in, it stops the cuffs from being able to move any more. I think this is a great addition and really useful for long bondage sessions.
Speaking of long sessions, these cuffs are ideal for them! Not just because of that super convenient button, but because of the shape of them. These cuffs aren’t round like most conventional handcuffs, these are the perfect shape for the wrist. As most wrists are oval(ish) and not exactly rounded, normal cuffs can start to dig in your skin and feel uncomfortable when used for extended periods of time. This isn’t the case with these. I actually think they’re incredibly comfortable to wear. Due to the weight of them, you’re not going to forget they’re there but they’re not uncomfortable.
For some, the weight of these handcuffs may be an issue, more so if you have weaker wrists. They do take some getting used to, but I actually think the weight of these really works in your favour. I found the weight to make them feel more restrictive, it seemed like, not only was I physically restrained, I was also weighed down too – this only further enhanced the session for me.
I love these handcuffs, I love metal handcuffs, I love the feeling of the cold unforgiving steel wrapped around my wrists. I’m also quite the fan of role plays and a lot of my role play scenarios include being restrained. Ideally during these role plays, I’d like to be more authentic and be restrained with metal cuffs (police, ect). However, since I’ve mostly broken the ones I’ve had, I’ve had to compromise with other materials, mainly silicone ones. Well, no more! I can now use these cuffs with no fear of them being damaged. I’ve pulled against these and not been able to budge. The button on the side ensures that they don’t tighten any more than I want them to, and the shape of them means they’re comfortable to wear and don’t dig in to my wrists. They are, by far, the best metal handcuffs I’ve ever owned.
These handcuffs have a price of £99.04 (at the time of writing this), so they’re not exactly on the cheaper side of things. However, I do think they’re well worth the price tag. They’re heavy duty handcuffs, robust and incredibly well made. I’ve spent £20 on a pair of handcuffs before that have broken in a couple of sessions as, each time I pulled on them, I weakened the hinges. This isn’t the case with these cuffs. They’re not flimsy and they are really built to last. I personally think these cuffs are well worth the investment – you can instantly tell that you’re paying for quality.
