Recently, the G5 Patchy Paul vibrator made its way to me from Fun Factory; which is an update to its predecessor with the same name. The G5 collection is a new trio of vibrators containing The G5 Boss, Tiger and Patchy Paul.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know I don’t review that many vibrators (Unless they’re clitoral). Vibrators are something I’ve mostly always been able to go without and preferred a dildo, as vibrations rarely do anything to me internally (generally annoy); so I was excited to give this one a try, since I’ve not yet come across a toy I’ve not liked from Fun Factory!
Paul comes packaged in the standard packaging you get from most of the Fun Factory lines. This consists of a sleeved golden box, the sleeve has details of the vibe and also depicts it, and the gold box just has Fun Factory on the lid; making it an ideal place to store your toy when not in use. Inside the box you’ll find the vibrator, a USB magnetic charging cable, and a user manual.
I love the USB chargers from Fun Factory, and I wish more companies used this method for charging their toys. My OH (Other Half) also commented on how fantastic he thought the magnet charger was that came with his Stronic Zwei. The magnets are quite strong so tend to stay connected, yet there’s no way of damaging the toy if the cable is accidently pulled out at the wrong angle. Also with the new G5 line, there is a now a battery level display – making the charging even better than it was; the buttons on the handle will light up. The – button flashing will show battery life of 0-33%, a static – and flashing + indicates 33-66% and both the – and + static with the FUN button flashing is 66 – 100% battery power.
The Patchy Paul vibrator comes in three colours pink, orange and a glorious green. I have the orange one, it’s a neon orange shade; which is rather nice and unusual. The vibrator is 9 inches in length, 7 inches of insertable length and is 5.5 inches girth at its widest point.
The shaft is fully ribbed and straight with a bent tip. It reminds me somewhat of a worm, the bent tip the ‘face’ which has two bumps on it which resemble the eyes. It’s made entirely from 100% silicone(apart from the handle, which is ABS plastic). The silicone itself isn’t as smooth as some of the other silicone items I’ve had from Fun Factory, it actually feels quite grainy. The looped handle at the base is a huge plus for me, it makes it so easy to manoeuvre whilst inside you – and because I have to use quite a lot of lubrication with this, the loop makes it so it isn’t slippery (WIN).
The buttons on the handle are ideally placed, making it easy to switch between settings whilst in use. When first switching it on (For a reason I can’t quite fathom) it starts on constant vibrations setting 3. There are 6 constant vibrations as well as 6 patterned vibrations. The vibrations are both rumbly and powerful (another win!). Whilst in use you can quickly turn the vibrator off by pressing the FUN button for 0.5 seconds, which really isn’t long at all. I’ve found that the quick turn off is both a good thing and a bad thing – In a shared house or living with parents it’s amazing; for me it’s a bit of a pain because I have hit it a few times whilst in use; though to be honest it has not happened enough times for it to truly annoy me or change my opinion of the vibe. The + and – buttons will scroll through the settings, whilst the FUN button is used to turn the vibe on and off. There’s also a handy little lock (making it perfect to travel with), pressing the FUN and – buttons together will lock the vibe, and the FUN and + button together will unlock it.
Patchy Paul is fully submersible in water, making it possible for bath time and shower fun; and it also makes it incredibly easy to clean – Just pop it in some warm soapy water and/or spray with some sex toy cleaner and wipe down.
So far, everything seems to be amazing about this vibe, but does it live up to the expectations in use?
Every time I’ve used this vibrator I’ve had to smother it in lubrication, as otherwise it just doesn’t feel comfortable. Once smothered in lube, I was ready to go. Using it first on my clit, I noticed how strong the vibrations were in the tip as well as the shaft – in fact, the vibrations are just as strong throughout the whole shaft. I was able to orgasm with the vibrations on my clitoris rather quickly, so I then proceeded to use it internally. Turning the vibrator on its lowest setting, I inserted it slowly; the shaft with its ribbed texture felt amazing, especially as it increased in size; the bent tip pressed up against my g-spot massaging it. I ended up doing what I always do, which is just turning it up to the highest speed; within seconds I was experiencing intense internal orgasms, it felt incredible. Every time my muscles contracted around the vibe, the vibrations seemed to get stronger making me orgasm more. I’m pretty sure my orgasms had orgasms. I then used a clitoral vibe with the vibrator still inside me, and I had even more intense orgasms than I previously had.
I think it goes without saying that I actually love this vibrator quite a lot actually.Patchy Paul ticks every box that I want from a sex toy, it has powerful rumbling vibrations, it’s girthy, easy to use and is made from body safe materials – never have I used a vibrator before and felt a need for the whole set. I now want both the G5 Big Boss and the G5 Tiger – I’ve tried both of these as dildos, so I can imagine the pleasure they could bring as vibrators. You can purchase all three vibrators at Fun Factory – You can get some awesome colours in them too! The blue Tiger looks amazing, as well as the green Paul!
This item was sent to me by Fun Factory in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
