A post from a friend of mine, who will be posting on here now and again with reviews of the toys that he uses, or toys that may occasionally be sent out to him for honest reviews. This is a review of The Tantus Snap Strap Silicone Paddle.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a strap? Is it a paddle? Yes, it’s a paddle. It is, in fact, the Tantus Snap Strap paddle and it’s long, black and 100% silicone. Here I am again with another fantastic Tantus product, I’ve taken a brief respite from dildo reviews to take a crack at the Snap Strap paddle, essentially transitioning from anal pleasure to butt-based pain.
The main spec that interests me is the fact that the Snap Strap is one solid black piece of Tantus’ 100% medical grade silicone. There are no screws, seams or seals, the handle blends into the paddle and the Snap Strap is 100% waterproof. The total length is 45cm with the handle accounting for 13cm of that. The paddle width is 5cm and the thickness of the paddle a uniform 4mm. The handle is 1.5cm in thickness giving a little extra grip and the width is 4.5cm at its widest (it is rounded).
Sleek and sexy
I have been using the Snap Strap with my partner, so I have been on both ends of the paddle. When used with our bondage setup (collars, shackles etc) the sleek black design fits in perfectly. What I loved about the Snap Strap was the versatility of it: you can give a light stinging swing or a heavy, painful welt just by adjusting the power. This was perfect for each mood, be it heavy play, hard domination or a light appetiser before building up to the crop. The soft silicone feels sensual and erotic when drawn slowly over a welt and I found myself shivering in anticipation for the next swing. The entire strap is flexible and so it is easy to build momentum to swing, particularly as the handle flexes with each swing also. I used the Snap Strap on my partners ass, inner thighs and back and was able to gauge my swings depending on which area I was switching to easily. All in all the welts burned with a satisfying heat long after we had finished and we will certainly be employing the services of the Snap Strap again.
Flexible on many levels
Cleaning is incredibly easy. I might just leave it there… ok, so there are no seams and only the logo on the handle is the only protrusion on an otherwise smooth and flawless surface. There is nowhere for dirt to go. A wet wipe before and after use was always enough to get the Snap Strap clean and it really required minimal effort to get it looking brand new. Also, there is a small hole at the top of the handle and this is great if you have toy hooks to display after usage.
That’s it, I’m done, I shall look no further: the quest for my lifelong paddle is over. Tantus claim that a well maintained pure silicone product can last a lifetime and in this case I am inclined to believe them. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever need another paddle again. The build quality just feels so very refined and it is perfect for any BDSM play. The price clocks in at just under $50 which is great value for such a well-made, high end toy. I have always been a fan of leather and I find leather straps to be very erotic, so I wasn’t sold on a silicone strap at first but what it lacks in intimidation the Snap Strap makes up for in practicality… and then some!
The Tantus Strap Snap was sent in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
